Writing Report June 28, 2020
Progress and advancements on several fronts, but not a lot of actual writing these last few weeks.
Of a celebratory note: I just finished my 100th fictoid.
This means I’ve got stories slated to appear every Tuesday for the next year and into 2022.
(I actually have a few scheduled far after that, but since I’m writing this batch based on the book I got as a birthday present, those other fictoids -- created independently -- are slated to appear much, much later. When I finish the book I’ll reschedule them to fit in right behind the others.)
I’m starting to get ready to begin writing on a large project I’ve been toying with for 9 - 10 years now.
It’s a contemporary non-fantasy story, but to get everything about it feeling right, I’ve done a lot of research on the region it takes place in, as well as the attitudes of the people who would be involved.
I’m not done with that research yet by a long shot, but I have started winnowing through what I’ve already accumulated, making what notes I need and discarding files and images I no longer need.
The actual writing probably won’t begin until later this summer, though I have jotted down a few scenes and bits of dialog.
It’s going to be a lot of fun, but I won’t tell you much about it until it’s ready to go.
