the drinker’s poem

the drinker’s poem

I drink vermouth
in search of truth
and with whiskey,
philosophy
for thoughts divine
I consume wine
it lets my mind
roam free

I count it sin
to guzzle gin
and much quicker
shun cheap liquor
and as for beer
I’ll just steer clear
too much makes me
sicker

I deeply drink
to help me think
by dulling pain
inside my brain
my final goal
is for my soul
to find wings once
again
